Workshops

Our workshops take place in-house at Textiles Hub London and are designed and delivered by our talented resident textile artists and designers. Each workshop is unique, informative and fun and great insights are gained by working closely with designers in their own studio. Souvenirs of the day such as artist postcards and artisan textile items are available to enjoy and purchase on the day of your visit.

Each workshop topic is designed especially to offer a unique learning experience with lots of new information, knowhow and ideas to take away.

As a Textiles Design tutor at the V&A, Emma Neuberg mines the museum’s world-class archives for historic material to rework and re-envisage in class.

ON JULY 17TH 2019, 2 – 5PM: V&A FLORALS IN REPEAT WORKSHOP (Code: THLW1.5_EN):

“V&A FLORALS IN REPEAT” (Code: THLW1.5_EN) is an exciting, hands-on workshop taking place on July 17th 2019 from 2 – 5pm that teaches you how to create stunning, floral prints in perfect repeat patterns. Learn to replicate historic V&A floral designs into your own exquisite patterns for application in fashion, textiles and more. Learn with the best tutor in the UK for this skill, Emma Neuberg, named Great Britain’s “New Fabric Designer” by The Observer Magazine and Textile Design Tutor at the V&A, and arrive at a repeat pattern ready to take into production. The master tutor focuses on a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CAD techniques for professional results. No experience necessary. If you prefer, bring your own laptop with Photoshop and Illustrator on it (you can install them for a one-week free trial at Adobe and make sure to open the software beforehand so that you know it operates smoothly before class), otherwise, you’re welcome to use ours. “MAKE AN EMBROIDERED BUTTON” (Code: THLW1.7_AG) is an exquisite, hands-on stitch class taking place on July 25th 2019 from 7 – 9pm with British folk art embroiderer, Alex Anne Goodwin. Having toured Indian textile communities and worked for Oxfam textiles recycling for many years, Goodwin is the best British folk art embroiderer to teach you all the skills needed to create folk art buttons that tell a unique story and generate a wealth of emotional value for heart, pocket and planet. We require payment in advance and a contact telephone number to secure your place for an event. Payment is accepted via the Paypal buttons above.

Places on our classes are limited so, when booking, please check your diary carefully as our fee is non-refundable and only valid for the date(s) you have booked. We understand that situations arise so, with one week’s notice we can offer a credit note to use on another class. Alternatively, you can send a friend to take your place.

3.

If booking as a gift please inform us who will be attending and their contact telephone number. Please draw their attention to these Booking Terms & Conditions.

4.

Occasionally, we may need to cancel or re-schedule a workshop due to unavoidable circumstances or under-subscription. We will inform you within 48 hours and offer an alternative date, a credit note or a full refund. We will not be liable for any costs or expenses that may be incurred due to a cancellation.

We welcome private party bookings, please contact us to discuss your ideas/requirements. Payment in advance is required to secure the date.
