Desmarais was a resident of Textiles Hub London in 2014 – 15. She is a researcher of ‘slow’ craft and specializes in katazome stencil dyeing on silk. Of British heritage, her work explores mark-making, repetition and the affective processes of these with ‘slow’ making.  Her techniques prioritize traditional Japanese methods, meaning and attention to detail and her capsule collections embrace the levity of manual imperfection with a subtlety and sensitivity that elevates the final pieces to luxurious, wearable art.
