Kuniko Maeda is a Japanese artist and designer who became a resident member of Textiles Hub London shortly after graduation from MA Textiles at Chelsea College of Art & Design.
She specializes in textured and sculpted wood, leather and paper sculpture. Her work conveys complexity and dynamism and her use of repetitive, cutout motifs are central to her spell-binding signature.
The unique nature of her work has been awarded with several prestigious prizes including the Lexus Award and Colour in Design Award. In 2021, she enjoyed her first solo show at Contemporary Applied Arts in London and is represented by Ruup & Form Gallery, London.
Materiality, sustainability and story-telling operate as a compelling force in her work making it ideally placed for international exhibition, private collections and commissions.
