Theo Mendez

Mendez exhibited his work at Textiles Hub London in 2014 as part of the trailblazing exhibition and symposium The Geometrics curated by British curator Daisy McMullan and Brtish-French artist Emma Neuberg. His work is central to the British modernist story and presents the linchpin conjoining painting and textiles. Arising from the Arts & Crafts movement, textiles were seen as central to the building arts and the asthetic environment as pioneered by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and William Morris.

Mendez’s interrogation of composition, colour and material is a central motif of the modernist movement in twentieth century Great Britain. He explores the vibrant and compelling language of cultural code, pattern and abstraction in dynamic and conversational paintings.
